We've had the flu this week, so there's not a lot going on here as far as game playing, but I did try out this game to pass the sniffling, sneezing endless hours. I'll do a full review when the flu has left the house, but in the meantime, here are some tips that might help you enjoy this game a little bit more than you would if you were to read other's reviews out there.
Don't worry about placing a plant bed, or water sprinkler in the wrong place... if you do, simply hit the "x" button on the top of your screen. This is a delete button, and anything you click on after hitting it will be sold back to the market, as it disappears. Not only do you then get to place the object again, but you get your money back. This "refund" feature may become a strategy to getting the money you need later in the game to build your house.
(I saw someone say that you can't move something once you've placed it, and that's so discouraging, I wanted our members to know better. In the beginning stages of the game, this is a great help)
Buying trees and/or berry bushes is another way to gain cash quickly. You can't "breed" them, but harvesting the fruits will bring quick cash.
Placing a water sprinkler correctly can cover four plant beds so that you don't have to waste time watering the plants. This saves you time, and tons of money on the watering can upgrades.
Sometimes, you may find that planting the least expensive plants *(sunflowers)... and just letting the mice and crows get them is a fast way to get cash, because the garbage they leave behind is worth $50 a piece, as opposed to the $10 you'd get for selling the plant... and one plant bed worth of sunflowers can create several mice and crow leavings!
(I discovered this strategy when I had a sneezing fit, and had to leave the computer without pausing... I came back to nothing but garbage, and raked in thousands of dollars!!)
So far, this game is a relaxing way to pass time. The graphics are cute, but the text is definitely the result of English being the programmers second language. As I've stated in reviews before, I feel that poor spelling and grammar in a casual game's text is just lazy and uncalled for. Hire a proof reader that speaks proper English if you want to profit from selling your games to an English speaking audience, for goodness sake!
Aside from the grammatical errors, the game play is fun, cross breeding is not as much of a chore as it is in other games, because there is a chart built right into the main navigation of the game. Tracking what you've made and HOW you made it is VERY easy.
I'm about half way through building my house (your main goal is to sell enough of your plants to build your house... the steps to building cost more each time you do it). So, you figure I'm half way through the game, I've discovered all the different breeds of plants, and only have about five combo's to go to finish the breeding chart... but I'm not seeing a big payoff ... rather, a big motivator to finish this game. The house will be built, but unless there's some cool graphics at the end when your house is completed, I'm just not seeing a reason to finish this game. It can get rather monotonous.
Maybe I'm just cranky because I have the flu. I'll still play it to completion just to see if I'm wrong, or if things change along the way. The crows come fast and furious as you get into it, so that's rather annoying. Other reviewers say the crows only come once a day. HA! That's only true if you only play it for the trial period.
More as I progress... till then, try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
