Finally! Sparkle is a different kind of marble popper!

I know what you're thinking... another marble popper. Sigh. Even though the very first casual pc game I ever bought was the classic, Zuma Deluxe... I've got to be honest and tell you that besides the Luxor series, I haven't even bothered to play more than the free trial of marble popper games because they all seem so very similar to me.

I'm happy to report that Sparkle is different! Yes, it's got the same marble popper theory as Zuma and Luxor, BUT it's also given us the opportunity to win amulets that give us special powers when we're playing. (The first amulet I earned gave me a super fast launch which is constant, and doesn't wear out as long as I have that amulet on!) We have the ability to switch the amulet we're wearing according to what we think would be most helpful to beat the level we're on.

If you've ever played a marble popper game, I'm sure you can just imagine how helpful this can be! I've got to be honest with you... I've never completed a marble popper game because they just get way too hard! With Sparkle, though, with the addition of the magical amulets, I finally feel as though I may actually be able to complete a marble popper game! Maybe. I hope. I'm going to find out! LOL

I've also noticed that there are a LOT more bonuses made available ... more than I'm used to seeing in the other marble popper games. The graphics are beautiful, but not a drain on the 'ol RAM. There's actually a story line involved, and you get to choose your path... something I'm not used to in this genre.

I'm definitely buying this one. I love the amulet angle, it's like earning trophies in Farm Frenzy... you just can't stop until you've earned them all LOL! I'll have fun writing a full review on this one, so keep an eye out for it! For now, it's time for me to get back to earning more amulets!

After playing this game for just short of an hour, I bought it because of all the new options available in this version of one of my favorite time management games. If you're already familiar with the way the Diner Dash games work, you'll feel comfortable with the way this game operates.

I'm impressed with the improvements made to the way the game works technically though. It seems to run a lot smoother than the others. The graphics are sharper, and the movement is much smoother as well.

There are a few really cool options in this game that are nothing like the other Diner Dash games, and I've included screen shots of all the ones I've found so far. [MORE]

Before I get into the nitty gritty of how this game works, I've just got to take a moment here to comment on the graphics. *So cute!* The graphics have a very CGI animated feeling to them, which isn't too strange, considering that's exactly what they are! LOL They move effortlessly over your screen, and even when items are in mid air flying to their destination, they are crisp and clear. Attention to detail isn't lost on me, I love the graphics in this game.

Game Play: As a nice surprise, there was no annoying introduction in this game. You turn it on, enter your name, check out the developer credits (only if you want to), set your options, and you're on your way! The tutorial starts immediately, with tool tips walking you through every step. You'll see this in the screen shots I'm using in the walk through later in this review.

There are enough tips included in the game for you to be able to complete all the levels without too much frustration. The only thing the game doesn't tell you is that you're going to have to remember the best screens for making money, and earning bonus stars, because you'll need to buy upgrades in the store to progress through the levels. Gameplay: The first level consists of a tutorial that walks you through the steps of gameplay. Seat your customer, wait for them to browse the catalog, bring the fabric for their order to the seamstress, etc. Much like Belle's Beauty Boutique, Diner Dash, and similar games, this one has shop upgrades and other surprises waiting for you as you make progress through the levels.

Maria's Room: One of the first "surprises" you encounter, is Maria's room. You get to choose her clothing before every new level. As you get further in the game, more colors become available for you to choose from. If you're not a budding "fashionista", and have no desire to change Maria's clothing, you may choose to set it to randomize her outfits each level. [MORE]

The announcer, fanfare, and other sound effects are amusing, but not irritating. The in game tips are many, and there are also reminders of tips already given... but not so much that they annoy you, or disturb your game 'groove'. Challenges abound, making it really easy to become determined to do better next round, just to see what kind of surprises may await you.

Transitions from screen to screen are smooth, and navigation through the levels is pretty cut and dry... no wondering what to do next in this one! As you progress, you unlock new, more challenging "courses" to play.

Trophies are earned for milestones acheived, and the money you earn can be spent in the Golf shop. We all know golfers enjoy their own fashion rules! LOL

Overall, a very entertaining game that combines our love for a classic solitaire game with a taste of the golf course. This game should definately come with a warning... it is terribly addictive! I quit and saved my game after the 5th hole I played just so I could buy it before my time ran out... I didn't want to lose any progress! LOL [More tips, tricks and screen shots]
